The 2010 Foals of Cabinwood Farm

Lady Pearlina is named after my Great Grandmother Perlina Tufts Thomas.

Cabinwood's Lady Pearlina

 DOB: July 29, 2010

 Blue-eyed white/Ivory  19 1/4"

 MDR# pending

Sire: Cabinwood's JT Chance   Ivory BEW

Dam: Pieratt Possum   Ivory BEW

Possum kept us guessing right up to her time of delivery but WOW! When this little girl was finally born there was no need to guess that she is a beauty!

Lady Pearlina is a tiny and delicate little girl! Along with her ivory colored  hair she sports a very dark brown stripe and cross along with a few dark highlights on her ears and around her feet. She appears to have light points on her tummy and around her mouth.

Possum and Chance have once again given us a precious gift in this little ivory jennet. We can't wait to see how she grows and matures!

Cabinwood's Lights Out Louie

 DOB: June 6, 2010

 lt gray/white spot   21 3/4""

 MDR# pending

Sire: Cabinwood's JT Chance  Ivory BEW

Dam: Cabinwood's Rockin' Pebbles Gray MSF

Gr.Sire: RJR's Cold Blizzard  33" Spotted  Ivory BEW
Gr. Dam: RJR's Sara Beth NR
Gray-dun

This little fellow sure knows how to make an entrance! Born just about a week and a few days before his due date little Louie decided to make his entrance around 2am  in the middle of a storm drenched night full of tornado warnings and pouring rains! And as if that wasn't enough, about ten minutes after he was born and before he even stood up OUT WENT THE LIGHTS! It was pitch black in the barn and do you think I had a flashlight with me?? No flashlight! Back to house in the rain and then out to the barn I went again. Peebles and Louie handled it like champs (I was a bit more rattled) and by the dim light of the flashlight he stood and finally found his late night snack.

He is a very sturdy little guy with straight lines all the way around and he holds the distinction now of being the VERY FIRST SPOTTED donkey born at Cabinwood Farm!!! Pebbles did a great job and I was glad when the tornado sirens stopped, the rains subsided and Lights Out Louie, his Mom and I were able to get a little rest!

Welcome to Cabinwood Louie!!!

Cabinwood's J. Marlowe

 DOB: May 4, 2010

 Gray/Brown dun sorrel highlights  18 3/4"

 MDR# pending

Sire: Ozark Red Sierra

Pedigree

Dam: Hauenstein's Black Satin Gypsy

Pedigree

We all waited a long time for this foal since Gypsy, his dam, has never been able to conceive till now! Well, he finally arrived mid-evening and he now holds the distinction of being Cabinwood's smallest born foal! Measured still with his rubber hoof booties on he was a whopping 18 3/4" tall! He's as cute as he can be but we are still not sure of his color...first he looked dark, then as he dried off he was more of  a gray/lbrown/sorrel color with some stripes on his legs here and there! Despite his small and wobbly stature, he was up in a flash and nursing great in a very short time!

J. Marlowe is named after the John Wayne character Col. John Marlowe from his 1959 movie The Horse Soldiers.

Cabinwood's John Henry

 DOB: March 30, 2010    22 1/2"

 Brown/ brown dun

 MDR# pending

Sire: Wee Ones Tyger

see Tyger info

Dam: Assphalt Acres Olivia

Pedigree

Olivia was our very first donkey purchase when she was just a yearling and then last year we sent Olivia back to be bred to Steve and Jill Crim's newly acquired spotted jack Wee Ones Tyger.

Well, John Henry isn't the spot we hoped for but he certainly is a handsome fellow all to his own! He is very straight in the legs all around with even and aligned gums and has a really sweet and friendly attitude already! There was no fear in this little fellow as he practically jumped right into my lap as soon as he was born!

Nice pedigree, nice body and nice personality! What more could you want in a donkey!?

John Henry is named after the John Wayne character Col. John Henry Thomas from his 1969 movie the Undefeated.

Cabinwood's Nicholass

 DOB: March 24, 2010    22"@ 2 days old

 Dark brown/black heavy sorrel highlights

 MDR# pending

Sire:   Ozark Red Sierra

Pedigree

Dam: Assphalt Acres Nicoal

Pedigree

Holding true to form here at Cabinwood, Little Nicholass was born within the same 24 hr period as his half-sister Tessa. He also carries the mark of sire Red Sierra with a beautiful cast of sorrel mixed in with the very dark browns and blacks in his coat. His hair was very kinky and curly while wet after his birth. He appears straight and true in every way a donkey should be!

This little guy has the mark of herdsire written all over him and with a pedigree like his, it's not surprising!

Nicholass is named after our favorite bartender and server Nick at our weekly eating place The Olde Towne Grille !

Cabinwood's Tessa

 DOB: March 23, 2010    21"

 Rose-dun roan

 MDR# pending

Sire:  Ozark Red Sierra

Pedigree

Dam:  Little Friend's Celina

Pedigree

Tessa is our first foal of 2010 and she is a beauty! As always, her sire Red Sierra leaves his mark on his foals and she is an amazing color combo of silvery gray mixed with lots and lots of white and a beautiful shimmer of rosy sorrel all over her! She has wonderful conformation and is a real little spitfire! It's a good thing she was feisty because she actually had to fight for her supper from the very first day when her Mom Celina didn't want her to nurse. All's well that end's well and both mother and baby are doing great!

If you look really close at Tessa's name you may notice that TESSA is ASSET spelled ass-backwards!

Cabinwood's J. Stryker

 DOB: October 1, 2009

 Ivory (blue-eyed white)  20 1/2"

27" on March 19, 2010

 MDR# 58196

Microchipped

Pedigree

Sire:  Merry-Go-Round's Sir Booberry Creme 33.5" Ivory (blue-eyed white)

Dam: Donkette Korral Chamomile 32 1/2" Ivory (blue-eyed white)

Chamomile seems to have saved the best for last as she foaled a very handsome and small ivory jack foal last night! This little guy is quite the looker measuring out at 20 1/2" with a solid short bodied structure and everything else that a future herdsire would need!

Stryker's dam is one of the nicest and best built ivory donkeys I've come across and his sire Sir Booberry Creme has a great reputation for unique and excellent quality foals! Stryker has very few visible light points except a small white star of hairs in the middle of his forehead! We'll be watching him carefully as he matures. This little fellow may be a keeper! Only time will tell! Thank you Chami and Boo!!

Stryker was named after the John Wayne movie character Sgt. John Stryker in the 1949 movie Sands of Iwo Jima. Our last foal of the season and another healthy baby boy!

Cabinwood's Takota Shadow

 DOB: September 20, 2009

Medium dark Ivory (blue-eyed white) 21"

26 1/2" on March 19, 2010

 MDR# 58195

Microchipped

Pedigree

Sire: Furball Acres Takota   Ivory (blue-eyed white) 30 1/2"

Dam: Hauenstein's Mirage  Ivory (blue-eyed white) 34 1/4'

This certainly is a year of firsts here at Cabinwood!! I got up early this morning and just as the sun was coming up I looked out our living-room window with a view of the front pasture and at first I thought I was seeing things!!!! So, I grabbed the binoculars that I always have handy on the window sill and what did I see????? Mirage was standing in the middle of the pasture alone but it seemed she had way too many legs underneath her! Just at that moment I see this tiny head come poking out of the shadows!!! OMG! It was a BABY!!! We’ve never had a baby born out in the pasture before!!

We now have our very first ivory jack foal born at here Cabinwood!!!! His name is Cabinwood’s Takota Shadow and he’s a nice looking boy in everyway…straight legs, medium dark ivory color like some of his sire’s foals have been so far, evenly aligned  gums and he is jumping all around the barn, now!!!

Whew…a healthy baby boy! Thank you Mirage and Takota!!!!

Cabinwood's J. Higgins

 DOB: September 6, 2009

  brown/sorrel highlights    22"at 3 days old

28" on March 19, 2010

 MDR# 57830

Microchipped

Sire: Ozark Red Sierra  32 3/4" dark sorrel   Pedigree

Dam: Cabinwood's Sweet Matylda 33 1/2" Ivory (blue-eyed white)

Matylda did herself proud with this little boy! She was right on her due dates but still made us wait a good long time for delivery. She kept us in suspense till the end!

Higgins was a livewire from the very beginning so he will  keep Matylda on her guard. His color is a combination of dark brown and red and he has lots of white underneath with some nice dark legs. This boy is really BUILT! But of course with a Mom like Mytylda and dad like Sierra, how could he be anything else!

Higgins is our first ivory carrier foal born here at Cabinwood Farm. He will be able to go on and produce ivory foals with other ivory carriers, ivory foals with ivorys and beautiful sorrels and a rainbow of other colors! He is donkey diversity at it's best!! Good looks and great color...Higgins has it all!

J. Higgins is also following the tradition of naming most of our boys after John Wayne movie Characters. He is named after Sheriff John Higgins from the 1935 movie Texas Terror !!

 very dark brown

 MDR# 57831

Microchipped

Sire: Ozark Red Sierra  32 3/4" dark sorrel   Pedigree

Dam: 4-Z's Spitfire 31 1/2"  dark brown  Pedigree

Spitzy and Sierra have done it again!  What a gorgeous boy this is!

Meet Rockwell T (Rock) born a little by surprise since Spitzy wasn't due till July 29. Spitzy did a fine job and Rock was up quickly and nursing in a jiffy. This little guy is the spitting image of his Mom with her very dark brown coloring and huge eyerings! He looks to be straight all the way around and when I left them in the barn, he was already jumping and kicking up his hooves in the air! Spitzy is going to have her hands full with this little guy!!

Rock is following the tradition of naming most of our boys after John Wayne movie Characters. He is named after Capt. Rockwell Torrey in the 1965 movie In Harm's Way...one of my favorite John Wayne Movies!!

Cabinwood's Full Moon Minta

 DOB: July 7, 2009

 20" Dark Sorrel

 MDR# 57313

Sire: Ozark Red Sierra  32 3/4" dark sorrel  Pedigree

Dam: MGF Venus Mon Cherie 33 1/2" dark sorrel   Pedigree

Little Minnie came into this world 2 weeks early! It was a beautiful and clear weather night in July under the brightest of full moons I've seen in a long time...hence the name Full Moon Minta! Minta is a family name belonging to one of my maternal grandfather's sisters. She will forever hold the distinction of being the first jennet foal for us out of our sorrel herdsire Ozark Red Sierra. Sierra gave us a string of 5 boys last year, one of them being Minnie's full brother Clifford the Red!

She is a tiny little girl, still a little wobbly on her feet but looks to be a beautiful donkey baby! How can she miss with parents like Mon Cherie and Red Sierra!

Welcome to Cabinwood, Wee Minnie!

Cabinwood's Lullaby Lucille

"Lucy"

DOB: June 17, 2009

20 1/2" Dark Sorrel

MDR# 57059

Sire: Lawzyday Farm's Cherokee  29 1/2" Sorrel

Dam: ASSphalt Acres Brianna 31" Brn with sorrel highlights

Full pedigree

This little jennet foal was a welcome sight after a long hard day and then a gully-washer rain storm that ran like a river through both our donkey barns!

Brianna was one of our first donkey purchases from the Crims at ASSphalt Acres and how fitting that her very first foal would be a beautiful little girl out of a breeding to their own herdsire Lawzyday Farm's Cherokee!

Lucille has wonderful conformation, good aligned gums and if you take a look at this little gal's pedigree, you will be amazed! Her lineage is so deep and wide, you'll need two pieces of paper to print it all off!! She has some of the best of the best in her background! I can't wait to see this little girl mature!

Thank you Brianna and Cherokee for this beautiful little jennet!!!

Lucille is named after my maternal Grandmother Lucille Pendleton.

Cabinwood's Lady Cynthia

"Cyn"

DOB: June 3, 2009

21.5" Ivory (blue-eyed white)

MDR# 57060

Microchipped

Sire: Cabinwood's JT Chance   Ivory (blue-eyed white)

Dam: Pieratt Possum    Ivory (blue-eyed white)

Full Pedigree

We waited a long time for this little girl in more ways than one! According to my breeding calendar this foal wasn't due until the end of June but Possum broke all the rules and bagged up big weeks ago, had white milk for over a week, and then had two bouts of false labor! But in the end, Little Cyn was worth the wait!! She is just wonderful all around, has even gums, and she is the most beautiful shade of dark ivory you've ever seen....almost a buckskin color at birth. She is not only JT Chance's first foal ever but she is our very first home-bred jennet to be born here at Cabinwood!! Girls have been hard to come by and all those born here so far have been from someone else's breeding.

Lady Cynthia is named after one of my best friends!

Thank you Possum and Chance for giving us this beautiful donkey girl!! Lady Cynthia will remain at Cabinwood to grow and mature and hopefully be added to our own ivory breeding program in the future!
